Russia pushes ahead with airborne forces equipment upgrade
Responding to lessons learned during last year's conflict with Georgia, Russia's airborne forces are set to receive new weapons and equipment to increase their effectiveness, according to the airborne force commander. Speaking on 29 July, Lieutenant General Vladimir Shamanov said Russia's airborne forces would receive 10 120 mm 2S23 NONA-SVK 2S23 8x8 self-propelled gun-mortar systems, two fire-control vehicles and additional wheeled armoured vehicles
